Patel to Find His Way Under Shyamalan

Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel is starting to pick up the fruits left by his outstanding performance as he is ready to start working in the latest M. Night Shyamalan film, "The Last Airbender."

Fortunately for the young actor, first-choice Jesse McCartney was unable to shake off a busy schedule leaving the spot open. Variety magazine reported Patel's involvement in the film, which is part of a trilogy based on the hit animated Nickelodeon television series, "Avatar: The Last Airbender."

OK! Magazine reported Shymalan's interest on Patel as he said that the actor was "already one of the guys I was interested in. Then I saw Slumdog Millionaire, and the kid just grew in my eyes."

According to MTV, Patel will play one of the fantasy world's villains, named Zuko. Others in the cast include Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Jessica Jade Andres and rookie Noah Ringer.

"The Last Airbender" is expected to be released in July 2, 2010, MTV reported.
