Patrick Swayze Released from Hospital

Actor was released Friday after being treated for pneumonia.

Patrick Swayze, star of the movies Ghost and Dirty Dancing, was released from the hospital on Friday. The actor, who is battling pancreatic cancer, checked himself into a Los Angeles hospital on January 9. People magazine reported that he was released after being treated for pneumonia.

His spokeswoman, Annet Wolf, told People, "I am happy to announce that Patrick Swayze is home after a brief hospitalization for pneumonia." She added that he is at home resting with his wife.

In a January 7 interview with Barbara Walters, Swayze said he "was going through hell," although he denied reports that he was near death.

The American Cancer Society says the five-year survival rate for pancreatic cancer patients is about 5 percent, with the majority of patients dying within six months.

Swayze currently stars in the show, The Beast, which debuted on A&E on Thursday.
