Paul McCartney Rumored to Play Two Fenway Park Concerts
Although city officials are won't confirm them, there are rumors that Paul McCartney will play at Fenway Park Aug. 5 and 6.
The Boston Herald's The Inside Track reported early Thursday morning that an anonymous source tipped that the star will play those dates while the Boston Red Sox are out of town in Tampa and New York.
The application to the city for a concert permit does not list a headliner. Patricia Malone, director of the Mayor's Office of Consumer Affairs and Licensing, confirmed the application and said that there are rumors regarding McCartney, but Fenway officials aren't expected to announce the headliner's name until a June 22 public hearing at City Hall.
On a related note, McCartney recently announced in a press release that he will be the first artist to hold a concert at the new home of the New York Mets, Citi Field, in Flushing, Queens on July 17 and 18.Summary: The stadium has applied for Aug. 5 and Aug. 6 concert permits
