Paula Abdul's Fate on 'Idol' Up in the Air

The "Idol" judge has yet to receive a contract for the show's ninth season.

According to Paula Abdul's manager, David Sonenberg, "It does not appear that [Paula's] going to be back on 'Idol,'" reports Entertainment Weekly.

Auditions for season 9 of the show are scheduled to begin on Aug. 6, and Abdul has yet to receive a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment. In order to continue as a judge on the show, Abdul and the production companies would have to reach a deal by then.

"I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," Sonenberg told the Los Angeles Times. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

Sonenberg has reportedly been managing Abdul since late June and has informed 19 Entertainment and Fox that "Paula would love to be on the show." However, he still hasn't received a proposal in response, leaving Abdul's return to the show uncertain.
