Paula Abdul's Return to "Idol" Questionable

The longtime "Idol" judge has not been offered a new contract.

Paula Abdul's manager, David Sonenberg, spoke with the Los Angeles Times regarding the possible return of his client to the hit television show, "American Idol."

"It does not appear that Paula is going to be back on "Idol," Sonenberg said.

At this point, the "A.I." judge has not received a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind "Idol."

Auditions for which the judges need to be present begin August 6, and if Abdul were to be involved in the 9th season, her contract would need to be negotiated by that time.

"I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," Sonenberg continued in the interview. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."

Sonenberg added, "Paula would love to be on the show."

In an interesting turn of events, "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest just signed a three-year contract to stay with the show - reportedly worth $45 million.
