Pavarotti Delays Tour Due to Infection

Music aficionados everywhere weep over the delay; most of the world doesn't notice.

Tenor Luciano Pavarotti is delaying five stops on the Pavarotti Worldwide Farewell Tour due to an infection following back surgery, his manager announced on his website. Though Terri Robson called the surgery "100 percent successful," the singer, 70, developed an infection in the hospital stay that has "unfortunately delayed his recovery time."

The postponed stops, four in Canada and one in Washington, were scheduled to take place in June, but Pavarotti hopes that with physical therapy, he'll be able to resume the tour in July.

"Luciano apologizes to his many disappointed fans for having to reschedule these concerts," Robson said. "Happily, he is now well on his way to recovery and very much looks forward to continue celebrating his career with the Pavarotti Worldwide Farewell Tour."
