PBS President Frowns Upon Political Tracking
PBS is not happy with the use of federal money used to track the political leaning of programming on public television. President and CEO Pat Mitchell announced Tuesday that she supports an investigation of this "very troubling" situation. Kenneth Tomlinson, chairman of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting ordered surveys of PBS programming, which funnels federal funds to public TV, but Mitchell declined to comment whether Tomlinson would lose his job because of it. Just like I don't report to him, he doesn't report to me and I have no say over his coming and going, Mitchell said to members of the Television Critics Association. As for the Republican Tomlinson, he claims he's seeking political balance in public affairs programming and is not being trying to silence liberals.
