People Mourn for Billy Mays
Son hopes to follow in his father's footsteps.
Mourners for Billy Mays turned out for his funeral on Friday in Pittsburgh.
Mays got his start on the Home Shopping Network on TV. According to the Associated Press, his outsized personality earned him a large following, graduating to infomercials as a result. It is believed that Mays died of a heart attack in his sleep on June 28 at his home in Tampa, Florida.
According to TMZ.com, Mays died from complications due to heart disease. This was determined by an autopsy. The examiner.com reports that many mourners wore stickers with a cartoon image of Mays. Mays recently starred in the Discovery Channel show, "Pitchmen."
Mays's son, who calls himself Young Billy Mays, participated in the show and has already proved to be a diligent worker. He has already produced, written, and directed his own commercial for a family member's restaurant. Mays was proud of his son and his son hopes to keep his father's spirit alive.
