Pepsi Will Not Show Commercial at Super Bowl
There’s been a lot of talk this year about which commercials would air during the Super Bowl, but not a lot about which ones wouldn’t.
Several companies that have produced some of the Super Bowl's most popular commercials have opted out of advertising during this year’s game, according to ABC.
Pepsi is one of those companies. This year will mark the first time in 20 years that they have not had a commercial shown during the game.
"That was a real problem for the Super Bowl because they are one of the biggest advertisers. The economy is wreaking havoc with a couple companies. And you've got a couple companies, big companies like FedEx and GM, who are long-time Super Bowl fanatics, that have pulled out because of the economy," advertising columnist for the Wall Street Journal Suzanne Vranica told ABC.
Many companies have opted to use social network sites to advertise rather than spend the $2.5 million to advertise during the game.
