Is 'Percy Jackson' the New Peter Parker?

The star of "Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief" is in talks to play Peter Parker in the new "Spider-man" film.

Throughout its development thus far, Sony’s Spider-man 4 has consistently been met with controversy. Directed by Sam Raimi, the third film left many fans wanting more. Many felt it was too cluttered with villains and failed to match the standards created by the first two films. For the fourth film, it wasn’t long before rumors hit the Internet that there were creative differences between Raimi and the studio. Soon after, Raimi left the project all together. This also meant that the film’s star, Tobey Maguire, would also be departing. Marc Webb, of the runaway indie hit 500 Days of Summer, was announced as director not long after.

Upon Webb’s announcement, it was also revealed that the film would be reboot the franchise and focus on a young Peter Parker in High School. This would surely mean that the film would not feature an all-star cast to match Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Many suspected that the iconic roles would be filled by unknown teenage actors.

Early talk is that Logan Lerman, of Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, is a strong possibility to play the webbed hero. Lerman has recently revealed that his involvement with the film has indeed been discussed. In addition to Percy Jackson, the 18 year-old actor has also appeared in such indie fare as My One and Only starring Renee Zellweger.
