PETA, KKK, and Dog Breeders
Just how far will People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, commonly known as PETA, go to protect the rights of animals? According to the New York Times, the proactive group has launched a controversial commercial campaign to support its latest cause - stop dog breeders.
The campaign compares dog breeders to the Ku Klux Klan and parents that encourage their daughters to have tons of babies and leave them on the street to die, reported the Times.
Another one of the commercials depicts a family receiving a body bag with a dead dog after they bought a dog from a breeder, showing that for every dog that is purposefully bred, another dies.
PETA explains that half the dogs and cats taken into animal shelters in New York, which is where the campaign has begun, the Times reported, are killed and never given a real home.
The ads come on the heels of the huge Westminster Kennel Club dog show, according to the Associated Press, which ended Tuesday.
