Phillips 'High on Arrival' is a tell all of her troubled life

Actress and singer Mackenzie Phillips has recently written a memoir about her life which hit shelves today. The title of the book is "High on Arrival'. Her troubles with drug addiction, acting and her estranged relationship with her father, singer John Phillips founding member of The Mamas & Papa are all covered.

One particular excerpt discusses when Phillips was on tour with a reformed version of her father's band called The New Mamas & The Papas, with Phillips sharing vocal duties with her father and others.

In one memory she discusses a bizarre and traumatic event that happen in the mid eighties in which she was on tour with the band. She claimed how she received two FedEx packages in her hotel room from her father, in one was a newly in print copy of her father's memoir, and in the other an eighth of an ounce of cocaine.

For the remainder of the tour in each city a FedEx package of cocaine from her father awaited in her hotel room. According to MSNBC.com, Phillips stated that "I spent all day every day in my hotel room, shooting up coke, coming out only to appear onstage for the nightly gig. Then I'd return to my hotel and do more coke. I was twenty-six years old."
