Phish ticket sales

Fans angry at ticket retailers following problems with Phish ticket sales

It has largely been speculated today that a merger between live music giants Ticketmaster and LiveNation may very well be in the works. This comes after LiveNation has come under a barrage of attacks on online forums following what has been described as a lackluster performance in dealing with the sales of the recently reunited band Phish. Last week tickets went on sale for a Phish summer tour and in an instant, they were all sold out.

Often time's bands with such cult followings such as Phish will have a hard time providing an assessable amount of tickets to their fans but this is not where the complaint lye's for many fans. Many fans claimed to have spent hours online in a "waiting room" top receive a chance to purchase tickets just to be turned away after hours of painstaking anticipation and other fans claimed to have had the site crash in the middle of them purchasing tickets. These events of course can likely be blamed for the overwhelming demand for tickets but how can ticket retailed better prepare themselves for such ticket buying frenzies?

With the rumors of merger between the two ticket retailer giants looming, one must wonder what is to become of the ticket buying experience if the merger really happens.
