'Pirates' Costar Penelope Cruz Says Johnny Depp Is a Prankster

Johnny Depp is well-known for playing outrageous characters and staying out of the public eye. Penelope Cruz, who costars in the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides with Johnny Depp, revealed the actor is a prankster.

According to People, Cruz, 36, and Depp, 47, first worked together nearly 10 years ago on the film, Blow. Cruz revealed to
Jimmy Kimmel Live that she was frequently victim to his “fart machine.”

"He fooled me once when we were doing Blow," Cruz told Jimmy Kimmel, Thursday. "I was doing a very dramatic close-up, and he kept making that sound with the machine.…I was just thinking, 'I hope they're not thinking it's me.'"

She says that 10 years after the film, not much has changed except the machine.

“When I met him 10 years ago, he had a plastic [fart machine], and now, 10 years later, he has one with a remote control,” she said.

Cruz assured she was left alone on the set of Pirates. This time, he found humor in pranking director Rob Marshall and producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Cruz says despite his fart jokes she has nothing but respect for the actor.

"He's really one of the most kind and genuine people that I have ever met," she says. "And he's so funny." She adds: "I love working with him."
