Beyonce’s successes in the entertainment industry have not gone unnoticed.
The 30-year-old singer will reportedly be honored with a monument located in her hometown of Houston, Texas.
“Our biggest thing is a lot of people get honored when they die, so our goal is to why not honor people [while] they're still here? We felt as though it’s her time to be honored,” Marcus Mitchell, who has plans to build the monument, told MY Fox Houston.
Marcus Mitchell and his partner at Armdeonce Ventures, Steve White, are looking to gain private donations for the monument and the city is reportedly backing the project.
“We’ve gotten support from the city of Houston, from the mayor,” Marcus added. “We’re waiting for a very nice letter from the mayor right now.”
The monument will reportedly be “a massive hall so as the doors open, if you donated to the monument, you'll have a separate nameplate,” according to Mitchell. “There will be clips of Beyonce with Destiny’s Child and wardrobe like a mini museum.”
According to MTV News, proceeds generated by the project will go to multiple charities including, Music for America, the Grammy Cares Foundation, and for disaster relief.
A majority of the residents of Houston believe the Beyonce monument would be “good” for the city. If the project stays on track the monument will be unveiled on Beyonce’s birthday, which is on September 4.
