Michael C Hall and Jennifer Carpenter may have finalized their divorce in December, but the Dexter costars didn’t leave their two-year marriage in bitterness.
Hall, 41, and Carpenter, 31, who play foster the brother and sister duo Dexter and Deb Morgan on Dexter, have been vocal about the love and respect that they still have for one another, explaining the amicable split was best for the show.
"He is and always will be one of my best friends in the world," Carpenter, told E! Online in October. "And just because the marriage ended doesn't mean the love isn't still there. We take very good care of each other and our cast, we always have, and I'm just really lucky."
Hall also expressed that he feels the same way about Carpenter.
“Jennifer is an astonishing actress. She remains a dear friend as well as a dear colleague,” he told NPR. “We're still in the other's life, in a different capacity I suppose, but it's an amicable situation, to say the least."
Recently, Hall and Carpenter have stirred up rumors that they might be trying to give their romance another go.
According to People, In January, the two were spotted together at The Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills for a friendly, casual meeting and coffee. Last month, they were also by each other’s side at a SAG Awards after party where they mingled with friends. On Wednesday, though, the two were spotted getting especially close during an evening out together. Hall was seen holding Carpenter’s arm as they got coffee, and later they were snapped leaning on each other as they watched the sunset in Venice Beach.
While some wonder if the former couple is headed for another go at their romance, others say they are just really comfortable with one another.
"Jennifer and Michael are friends. They spend time together. They work together,” said a source for People.
"They're just good friends,” added an Us Weekly source. "Their divorce was the most amicable in the world."
