Potter Author Pens Book for Charity

Proceeds from author J. K. Rowling's latest "Harry Potter" book will go to a charity for vulnerable children.

Though author J. K. Rowling is finished penning the seven books to the "Harry Potter" series, the author will release a related book on Thursday, according to Reuters.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard was referenced in the final book in the "Harry Potter" series as a gift given to wizard Hermione Granger by the school's headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. The book contains five stories that contain clues which Potter used to defeat his arch nemesis, Lord Voldemort. One of the stories, "The Tale of the Three Brothers," was recounted in the "Harry Potter" series.

Proceeds from the book will be donated to an Eastern European charity for vulnerable children, which was co-founded by Rowling.

One of Rowling's seven handwritten, illustrated copies of The Tales of Beedle the Bard sold for $4 million to online bookstore Amazon at an auction a year ago. Amazon is printing 100,000 collector's editions of the book to sell for $100. The global print run of the novel is expected to be 7.5 million.

The "Harry Potter" series made Rowling the world's wealthiest writer. Movies based on the novels are currently in production.
