'Predators' Footage Premier at SXSW Festival
Planning on attending the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas next week? You might want to attend the premier of the real world superhero flick Kick-Ass, then. If not for the film itself, which looks like it could be quite fun, then for the sneak peak you'll be given afterward. Producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal will be there to give attendees the first glimpse of the third film in the Predator franchise.
The event will take place on March 12 in the Alamo Ritz Theatre, with the appropriately titled Kick-Ass starting off the event. Rodriguez (Sin City, Once Upon a Time in Mexico) and Antal (Armored)) will take questions after the premier of the footage.
Rodriguez is a native of Austin and shot the film in his hometown. Rodriguez serves as the film's producer and also wrote an early draft of the script, which features a group of mercenaries and convicts who are lured to the alien's home planet as their prey. The film stars the unlikely collection of Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Alice Braga, Laurence Fishburne and Danny Trejo. The final screenplay was written by Alex Litvak and Mike Finch.
