Pregnant Man Expecting Third Child

Thomas Beatie, “the pregnant man,” gained worldwide attention two years ago when he became the first known transgendered man to give birth. Many press interviews (and even an appearance on Oprah) helped to catapult his celebrity and keep him in the public eye.

Now Beatie is back at it again.

He and his wife, Nancy, are expecting baby No.3, according to momlogic.com. The couple already have a daughter and son.

Born a woman, Beatie underwent a sex-change operation but kept his reproductive organs. He made headlines in 2007 after pictures of his pregnant belly became public.

Nancy is unable to have children because of a hysterectomy.

There was much criticism of naming Beatie the first “preganant man” since, in fact, he biologically is still a woman. There is a lot of anger and confusion over this issue, as some people believe that a person truly can be transgendered, to those that believe if one has the organs of a female, then they are female.

Even some people in the transgendered community wonder whether this is a good representation of who they are. After all, nothing is more female than giving birth.

It’s a controversy that will continue; however, the happy couple is reportedly very excited about their new child.
