Preparations for "SHREK the Musical" Are Underway
America's favorite swamp-dwelling ogre is headed for Broadway.
The Theatre Marquee for SHREK the Musical now graces The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle for a pre-Broadway engagement.
The show is a new musical, with a new score, based on the story and characters from William Steig's book, Shrek!, as well as the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film.
Prior to opening on Broadway in the fall of 2008, the musical will preview from Aug. 14-Sept. 21. Casting will feature Brian D'Arcy James as Shrek, Young Frankenstein star Sutton Foster as Fiona, Chester Gregory II as Donkey, and Johnny and the Sprites star John Tartaglia as Pinocchio.
