President Barack Obama Makes NCAA Basketball Final Four Predictions

President Obama has selected two #1 seeds and two #2 seed to reach the men’s Final Four in 2010

For the second consecutive year, President Barack Obama has filled out an NCAA tournament bracket for ESPN and he has once again made relatively conservative predictions. President Obama, who is a self-admitted basketball enthusiast, has selected two number one seeds and two number two seeds to advance to the Final Four in 2010. The number one seeds that he has predicted to make the men’s Final Four are Kansas, from the Midwest region, and Kentucky, from the East region.

The number two seeds that President Obama has chosen are Kansas State, from the West Region, and Villanova, from the South region. According to The New York Daily News, President Obama’s championship game prediction will be revealed on Wednesday during an episode of Sportscenter on ESPN. The segment in which his full bracket will be revealed will include his analysis of why he made the selections that he did and he will appear alongside ESPN college basketball analyst Andy Katz.

In 2009, President Obama predicted that the #1 overall seed in last year’s NCAA tournament, the North Carolina Tar Heels, would win the championship. His prediction was correct as North Carolina went on to defeat Michigan State in the championship game in an effort that was spearheaded by tournament MVP and current Denver Nuggets point guard Ty Lawson.
