Presley Unhappy to Announce Pregnancy

According to the Associated Press, Lisa Marie Presley felt compelled to reveal her pregnancy after the media released pictures and criticized her heavier appearance.

Presley, who wanted to keep her pregnancy private, wrote a statement on her MySpace page saying, "After being the target all week of slanderous and degrading stories, horribly manipulated pictures and articles in the media, I have had to show my cards and announce under the gun and under vicious personal attack that I am in fact pregnant."

Presley's announcement was prompted after pictures of her eating at a restaurant in Los Angeles were released by the press, according to AP. One London newspaper stated, "Like father like daughter? Bloated Lisa Marie is now the double of dad Elvis."

Cindy Guagenti, spokeswoman for Presley, said, "I mean, if you read some of the stories it's like, 'she's gonna die like her father,' 'her and her mom are in a fight because of her weight' - that's not true at all. It's just awful stuff."

Presley and her husband, Michael Lockwood, are expecting their baby in the fall. The daughter of Elvis Presley will be having her third child; she has two other children with ex-husband Danny Keough.
