Priest Runs Over Congregation

One churchgoer loses a leg, five others injured.

There seem to be some strange happenings in Pennsylvania this week. First, the state's Department of Agriculture made it illegal for ladies to bake pies for their church fund-raisers. On Friday, a priest in eastern Pennsylvania ran over a group of his parishioners after a Good Friday service.

According to the Associated Press, the priest drove into a group of people waiting on a patio reserved for older people. Authorities said a woman lost her leg in the accident, while five others were reported injured. All were taken to a local hospital. Nurse and parishioner Angela Thomas was a witness. She said she saw the woman's severed leg and gave her belt to use as a tourniquet. The priest told Thomas that his accelerator "just went."

Witnesses say the priest serves at St. Maurice Catholic Church, the site of the accident.
