Prince and Radiohead Battle over YouTube Videos of "Creep"

Prince had ordered that all videos of his performance of "Creep" be pulled off YouTube.

Radiohead is steamed at Prince for blocking YouTube videos of his performance of their song, "Creep," at the Coachella festival.

Tens of thousands of people rushed to YouTube after hearing about the performance (including Radiohead), but were quickly denied access by Prince's reps who were ordered by the artist to block the videos.

And now Radiohead is angry because, according to frontman Thom Yorke, Prince does not have the right to make such a decision because it's not his song.

"Really? He's blocked it?" Yorke asked bandmate Ed O'Brien (guitarist) shortly after hearing about Prince performing "Creep." "Surely we should block it. Hang on a moment," he added to Billboard, "Well, tell him to unblock it. It's our song."

As is the case with many videos that are pulled off YouTube, Prince's performance of the song that led to Radiohead's prominence is a matter of posting copyrighted material. The typical course of action for the site is that it will pull videos if they receive requests by those who own the copyright.

In this case, that party is Radiohead, so it appears that Prince does not have any say to whether or not the videos stay on YouTube.
