Prince and second wife file for divorce

The enigmatic musician divorces his wife of five years.

Legendary entertainer Prince and his wife Manuela Testolini Nelson have filed for divorce, People magazine reported Wednesday.

A sealed divorce action was filed May 24 at Hennepin County District Court in Minnesota, said Prince's lawyer Alan Eidsness.

The couple, who were married in a Jehovah's Witness ceremony in Hawaii in 2001, have no children together.

Testolini used to work at Prince's charitable foundation and went on to found Gamillah, Inc., which includes a production company and a designer candle line.

The 48-year-old performer, born Prince Rogers Nelson, was previously married to his backup singer and dancer Mayte Garcia in 1996. They annulled their marriage two years later, with Prince saying "the best way to demonstrate (that they're joined for life) is to do away with the legal bonds that people demand."

Prince is currently working on a follow-up to his "3121" album.
