Prince Harry Serving on Frontlines in Afghanistan

The prince's deployment is currently under review after this information was leaked Thursday.

The U.K.'s Prince Harry has been serving on the frontline in Afghanistan and has seen combat in the past 10 weeks since he was secretly deployed, CNN reports. After the news was leaked by a U.S. Web site Thursday, the U.K. Ministry of Defense confirmed Thursday that Harry's deployment will be reviewed.

When the prince was deployed 10 weeks ago, his fellow soldiers were sworn to secrecy in the attempt to avoid explicit enemy attacks as a type of message.

"At the end of the day I like to sort of be a normal person, for once I think this is about as normal as I'm ever going to get," the 23-year-old prince said in an interview conducted months ago about serving in the military.

Prince Harry is a member of a group called Joint Tactical Air Control, or JTAC. He holds the rank of cornet, which in American terms is the equivalent to a second lieutenant, and serves as a forward air controller.

Duties with this position include calling air support and air strikes when necessary, guaranteeing the accuracy of bombing on the ground and preventing friendly fire incidents.
