Prince William a Bachelor Once More

Prince William is single again, according to reports. The heir-apparent to the throne of England is split from long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton. Middleton, the daughter of millionaire mail-order business owners, was a great favorite with the tabloids to one day become "Queen Kate." This belief was fueled by Middleton's attendance at Prince William's graduation from Sandhurst military academy.

According to The Sun newspaper, the young pair has reached an "amicable agreement" to call it quits. Their relationship has been the subject of intense media scrutiny-paparazzi had even taken to dogging the 25-year-old Ms. Middleton outside her London apartment. Middleton has struggled with the media's persistence, having only just last month settled a harassment complaint against the Daily Mirror over a certain close-up photograph. In the past, William has requested the hounding to cease, saying that the situation is reminiscent, for him, of the manner in which his mother was tormented by the paparazzi.

The couple met in 2001 at St. Andrews University in Scotland, where they shared a house.
