Private Eye Represents Himself in Court

Anthony Pellicano attempts to defend himself in trial.

According to the Associated Press, celebrity private eye Anthony Pellicano has been defending himself in trial for charges of running a criminal enterprise, wiretapping phones and bribing police officers. He has been acting as his own lawyer in the federal case because he claims he is broke and wants to prevent his lawyers from having to work for free. The case could go to the jury within the next few days.

Pellicano has earned respect among Hollywood for handling tricky situations as a private investigator. He helped Michael Jackson get off on child molestation allegations and found the remains of Elizabeth Taylor's third husband after they had been stolen from his grave.

Pellicano declined to defend himself by taking the witness stand and has only called one witness during the trial so far. He has rarely raised objections and has chosen to remain loyal to his celebrity clients and keep their secrets.
