Katy Perry definitely felt the love from her fans on Valentine's Day. Her new single has already hit No.1 on iTunes.
Perry debuted a brand new song when she performed at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
The song, “Part of Me,” is an empowering anthem telling an ex, “look at me now” in this case, with lyrics like “You can keep the diamond ring/ it don’t mean nothing anyway,” many believed that Perry was proving to ex-husband Russell Brand that she was better off without him.
Whether that was Perry’s subtle intention or not, the song is already proving to be a big hit among her Katy Cats. Just one day after she performed “Part of Me” at the Grammys, it was already a top ten hit on iTunes. By Tuesday, the song was at No. 1.
“Holy power of the Grammy's, Part Of Me is already top 10 on itunes! U guys are killing it! NICE! Can't wait to shoot this video! #grateful” she tweeted Monday, adding just the next day, “OH EMMM GEEE. This is insanity. Thank you SO much. I'm so overwhelmed with gratitude.” She attached a screenshot of her song at No.1.
Perry revealed Tuesday that her new hit isn’t just another single. She revealed that proceeds would be going to MusiCares, a charity that supports the arts.
“My proceeds of #PARTOFME from ITUNES & others will go to one of my favorite charities for the arts, MUSICARES” she wrote.
According to Forbes, the 27-year-old recently donated $250,000 to the charity after performing at Paul McCartney’s MusiCares Person of the Year concert.
