Producer Phil Spector Indicted for Murder

Wall of Sound may tell the truth.

Pop music producer Phil Spector was charged for the 2003 murder of B-movie actress Lana Clarkson on Monday.

Spector, 63, appeared in court in Los Angeles to plead innocent to the charge of shooting Clarkson at his hilltop mansion on February 3, 2003.

According to Reuters, police found Clarkson, 40, dead in the foyer of Spector's home. Spector, who will stand trial in December, contends that the actress, who started in films such as The Barbarian Queen and Amazon Women on the Moon, shot herself after putting the gun in her mouth.

Police claim they found traces of blood and gunshot residue on the record producer's body and maintain he cleaned and moved the gun after the shooting, according to Reuters.

Spector described prosecutors as "Hitler-like" for seeking to charge him and accused them of trying to muzzle him from airing his side of the case against going to trial.

Spector is responsible for the 1960s Wall of Sound recording technique and has produced records for the Beatles and Ike and Tina Turner. He is currently free on $1 million bail.
