'Project Runway' Recap: A Little Bit of Fashion
It is a new day on Project Runway and a fabulous outfit must be made. I thought with the Olympics invading the television it would be a challenge to do with some famous figure skater or skateboarder but it has to do with children. The designers must make an outfit for a child, age appropriate and again it disappoints me Project Runway has to tell the designers age suitable. These children range in ages from five to nine.
Janeane comes to the realization that she failed in front of the editor of Marie Claire last contest with her beige bridesmaid’s dress and I can’t believe she didn’t get voted off. Seth is running around Mood like a mad cross trainer looking for black and white fabric. I was out of breath watching him take those Mood steps two at a time four times. With mere minutes to go he made a quick decision and crash from exhaustion.
They all love the tiny forms waiting for them in the workroom. Jonathan is doing really bad Kors impressions but is coming up with pretty good insults. Mila thinks she is getting along with everyone better and the flash back of evil Mila are only two episodes ago. Everyone still strongly dislikes her. Anthony is beating his garment with the iron. Sometime passes and everyone is wondering where Tim is. Could that mean a twist? Yes, it does! Tim announces a second companion look for the designer’s models.
There’s some fun in the workroom. Designers start betting Anthony how long he could go without talking? Anthony drapes white fabric over his month cowboy style and nine minutes later designers are painting lips and a tongue sticking out over the fabric. Anthony can’t hold his tongue any longer then 15 minutes starts. He tells all that is the longest he has ever gone without talking and it was a shame, he got a lot of work done.
Tim visits. Tim thinks Janeane’s color combination of coral orange and black is “Rocking Halloween.” It worried me when Janeane said she just saw it as pink, black, and white. She is a fashion designer. Shouldn’t she know her colors? Amy’s adult pants could stop show or look like clown cloths. Tim is using the image of clown cloths a lot this season. Tim is excited about Seth’s child punk piece and the grown up version black and white striped jacket.
The children are sent into the workroom and havoc breaks lose. Jonathan describes it as “Romper Room on crack.” The children render Anthony confused. Ben has the shyest little girl and is trying to at least get a smile.
On the runway the judges are Michael, Nina, Heidi and fashion designer Tory Burch. The children are rocking the runway better then the adult models. Seth, Jesse, and Jay have the highest scores. Jesse made a red, wool tailored jacket and a grey, red, and black kind of Madeline dress for his little girl model. The adult model wore the same colors but tighter and more modern. They all loved the jacket. Tory really liked the grey and Nina thought the model looked great.
Seth black and white with hot pink hoodie was the talk of the judges. Michael thought it was the best tailoring done so far this season. Nina loved the integrated look. Heidi asked his little girl what she liked about the outfit and it was the purse. Jay dressed his little girl in plum with a ruffle on the bottom and carried that ruffle over to the adult model’s shirt with dark pant. The ruffle was in the style of the Victorian neck collar. Michael says it looks chic. Nina thinks they look modern, urban, and cool.
Amy, Janeane, and Jonathan have the lowest scores. Janeane’s little girl outfit had a loose fitting coral top down to mid thighs and fitted cow print leggings. The adult model had a red jacket and a black and white paint splash top and Capri pant. Nina said it was too plain. Michael didn’t think the jacket was tailored well and Heidi thought it was a cheap mall outfit.
Jonathan is hard to describe. The little model says the organza bolero jacket is uncomfortable. Nina thinks it is too much design and Michael thinks it looks like a tornado of toilet paper. Amy’s little model has an orange petal skirt and a turquoise sweater top with weird leggings. The adult model has a turquoise top with pedal pants that are black, beige, turquoise, and orange. Nina says it looks circus like. Tory doesn’t like the color pallet. Heidi found it bizarre and hideous. Michael thinks she was just being different for different sake.
Seth is the winner for a chic, polished outfit. Jesse, Jay, and Jonathan are in. It comes down to Amy and Janeane. Amy ends up being in. Janeane bored the judges with her terribly tailored outfit. Off stage Janeane is crying because the judges hated it she says, “Not stopping me because Heidi wouldn’t wear it.”
Next week we get to look forward to a trip to the hardware store.
