Queen Oprah
It was just announced that Oprah Winfrey will be part of Walt Disney Animated Studios' film, The Princess and the Frog. The film is currently set for a Fall 2009 release. Princess Tiana will be voiced by Anika Noni Rose, and Oprah will be giving voice to Tiana's mother, Queen Eudora. The Queen is supposed to be residing in a castle in the French Quarter section of New Orleans, the same location where all the townspeople live. As for Oprah, this will be only one of many animated films to which she has lent her voice. Recently, in Bee Movie, she played Judge Bumbleton. She also voiced the dialogue for Gussy the Goose in the live-action Charlotte's Web.
In addition to Oprah's vocal help, The Princess and the Frog also features new work from Randy Newman. The composer has written six new songs for the film and performed one, "Down in New Orleans," at a studio press conference on Wednesday, September 24.
