R. Kelly Court Date Set

The RandB star will face child pornography charges.

R. Kelly will go on trial on September 17 for child pornography, five years after the charges first surfaced.

The charges stem back to an alleged incident in which R. Kelly was videotaping himself having sex with a girl who may have been as young as 13. The 40-year-old R&B singer could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

R. Kelly's defense attorneys dispute the age of the girl and if R. Kelly was even on the tape. Kelly pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Judge Vincent Gaughan said jury selection will begin on September 17. The trial was delayed in part because of disputes over when the tape was made. The judge was also recovering from injuries incurred in the fall.

The five-time Grammy winning singer has had a string of hits during his long music career, including "I Believe I Can Fly" and "Ignition."
