Rachel McAdams Signs On to "Sherlock Holmes"
Rachel McAdams, whose acting credits include The Notebook and Wedding Crashers, has signed on to star alongside Robert Downey, Jr. in the new adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes, set to be directed by Guy Ritchie.
The Warner Bros. backed film will begin shooting next month, and will put a rather unique spin on the aged tale that will focus on the new comic book that producer Lionel Wigram wrote.
The comic has yet to be released to the public, but has been seen by those making the film, and they seem to be excited by the new direction in which it takes the classic character.
The concept of the film sees Holmes as more adventurous, as we've mentioned in this space before. Holmes, played by Downey, Jr., will show off his skills as a swordfighter.
McAdams will play Irene Adler, the love interest of Holmes. And Jude Law is on board to play Holmes's right-hand man, Watson.
