Radiohead's In Rainbows Conquers U.S. Music Chart

Radiohead's In Rainbows #1

U.K. band Radiohead's fans are truly loyal. The band's latest cd, In Rainbows, has debuted on the U.S. Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #1.

Reuters reports that the band moved over 100,000 copies in stores, from data provided by Nielsen Soundscan, since the official release date of 01/01/08. The band also currently has top billing on other major worldwide music charts, other than the U.K. and the U.S., with their seventh album release.

Surprisingly, after the band opted to part ways with their major music distributor, EMI, last year, Radiohead's In Rainbows was temporarily made available to the public on their official website in October of 2007. Fans were encouraged, through a "never heard of before" direct download trial run, to pay whatever they wanted, or, nothing for downloads.

Radiohead is currently planning a worldwide tour in support of In Rainbows.
