The Spanish-language network Univision has made former NBC and AOL executive Randy Falco its new CEO after only five months with the company.
He will also become a member of the Univision Board of Directors.
"I am thrilled to take on the role of Chief Executive Officer," he said in a statement. "Univision has been at the forefront of innovation and has grown its competitive position while continuing to serve and advocate for the important U.S. Hispanic community. I’m excited to lead a company with such tremendous growth potential and look forward to continuing to work with such an exceptional leadership team."
According to The Wrap, the former CEO, Joe Uva, announced his resignation two months after Falco joined the company, and now Falco has assumed his role.
Right now, the company is ambitiously trying to beat out the English-language networks. In fact, Uva predicted that Univision would become the best-rated network in the U.S. in any language within five years.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the flagship Univision broadcast network has the fifth-largest prime-time audience of all U.S. television channels, at 3.7 million viewers.
