Rapper DMX Pleads Guilty
Rapper DMX is facing at least 90 days in jail after pleading guilty to three different charges, reported TMZ. DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, pled guilty on Tuesday to animal cruelty, possession of narcotic drugs, theft, and possession of marijuana.
County Attorney Andrew Thomas commented in a statement, "I am pleased that this defendant will be held accountable for both his drug and animal cruelty offenses."
Simmons was arrested in May for drug use and animal cruelty charges after authorities found dog carcasses and malnourished pit bulls in his house. He also assumed someone's identity and gave false information to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona to avoid payments. Simmons missed several court dates, leading to warrants for his arrest. He was eventually arrested at producer Scott Storch's home in Palm Island.
According to Reuters, Simmons will remain in custody until January 30, when he will be sentenced.
