Rapper T.I. To Remain in Jail

The rap star T.I. was denied bond and ordered to remain in jail until his next court appearance on Friday.

T.I., real name Clifford Harris, was arrested in Atlanta around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, just hours before he was scheduled to perform along with rap stars Nelly and Kanye West at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Authorities claim that the rapper gave his body guard $12,000 dollars to buy three machine guns and two silencers, which because he is a convicted felon, he is not permitted to own. The entertainer was convicted on felony drug charges in 1998 and has also been arrested on gun charges in the past. Authorities said that after the arrest they found three more firearms in the car, which Harris drove to pick up the machine guns and silencers, and found six other guns in his bedroom closet. Harris was denied bond Monday and is to remain in custody until his hearing on Friday.
