Mase, former Bad Boy Records protégé, is facing legal troubles after he allegedly failed to pay an Atlanta jeweler.

TMZ reports that the rapper turned pastor is being sued by Aydin and Company for allegedly failing to pay $35,000 in charges for jewelry that goes back to 2005.

The jewelers are now requesting the money for their jewelry, legal fees and interest on the money Mase already owes.

Court filings claim that numerous attempts to serve Mase, born Mason Betha, legal documents have been to no avail, as his staff reports that he is unavailable each time.

Betha has also been accused of avoiding being served legal documents for quite some time and they had a process server file an affidavit that said Betha was “evading service”.

Betha has filed legal papers of his own, requesting that the lawsuit is dismissed. He claims the service was unprofessional and he denies that a contractual agreement to make payments was ever signed.

Betha was once a popular hip-hop star signed to Diddy’s Bad Boy Records; his 1997 debut album Harlem World reached number one on the Billboard 200.

In 1997, he retired from hip-hop to become a pastor. He even wrote about the life-changing experience in his book, Revelations: There’s a Light After the Lime. In 2004, he reunited with Diddy and released a profanity-free album, entitled Welcome Back. After a hiatus, he reemerged in 2009 to team up with 50 Cent and G-Unit that resulted in little success.
