Razzie Nominations Select Worst of 2009

Sandra Bullock, Will Ferrell, and Robert Pattinson are among the nominees of this year's Razzie Awards

In contrast with the Oscars, the Golden Globes, and the SAG awards, the Razzie Awards are held annually to honor the worst in film. Every year, Razzie awards are given out in the form of a large, golden raspberry-shaped statuette. Some past winners include Eddie Murphy, John Travolta, Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, and Halle Berry, who famously appeared at the awards to collect the trophy for Worst Actress for her performance in Catwoman.

This year, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Land of the Lost have each received seven nominations, the most of 2010. In addition, its stars, Megan Fox and Will Ferrell, both received nominations for Worst Actress and Worst Actor, respectively. Both films also received nominations for Worst Couple and Worst Director. The vampire phenomenon Twilight Saga: New Moon was also not to be ignored. The film’s nominations include Worst Remake, Rip-off or Sequel and Worst Supporting Actor for the film’s star, Robert Pattinson.

One of the biggest stories about this year’s awards focus on Worst Actress nominee Sandra Bullock in All About Steve. Already having won the Golden Globe and SAG award for her performance in The Blind Side, the actress is currently considered the front runner to win the Best Actress Oscar in March. If she claims both awards, she will have set a new record for winning both a Razzie and an Oscar in the same year.
