Reading is Fun, and it's for Everyone
The Newnan Times-Herald reports that summer reading has kicked up a notch. Places like West Central Technical College, along with several local libraries, are launching the literacy program, "Master the Art of Reading," which begins June 6 and ends July 24. It is guaranteed to benefit everyone.
The purpose of the institutions offering the program is to persuade students and the community alike to read in summer of '09.
Even more fun, prizes will be offered to those who vow to read a book this year, the web site states.
Also joining WCTC college is the South St. Landry Community library in Sunset, where parents are encouraged to take part of the activities and read to their babies. After all, the purpose is to expose kids from 0-12 to literature, so that they'll be accelerated learners at a ripe age, Daily World reports. Unlike the title for WCTC, South St Landry's library has a reading program named, "Be Creative at Your Library," among others. Each program offered has different age-accommodation levels.
The South St. Landry Community Library in Sunset is offering a variety of programs for everyone from babies to adults over the summer beginning this weekend and continuing through July.
