The Real Bruno

Two Austrian men claim to be the inspiration for Sacha Baron Cohen character.

Two Austrian men are currently fighting over who was the inspiration for Sacha Baron Cohen's character, "Bruno," in his most recent film.

Alfons Haider was first to claim to be the "Bruno" muse. Haider is an Austrian TV presenter and is obsessed with Zac Efron, just like Bruno, but what really sells Haider's argument is that QUEERTY reports that he is the highest paid presenter on Austrian channel, ORF. Cohen's character is a fashion reporter for made-up Austrian channel, OJRF. Haider insists to People Magazine that Cohen probably saw one of his shows while Cohen was studying in Austria nine years ago and was inspired by it.

Adi Weiss is also a TV presenter, but unlike Haider, Weiss is very into fashion like Bruno. Weiss is a fashion correspondent for an Austrian tabloid, who has just crossed over to TV. Weiss told London Evening Standard, "I am Bruno. I was the original model for the Austrian Fashion journalist played by Sacha Baron Cohen that will be in the cinema in July."

Both Haider and Weiss are soaking up the added attention they're getting in their respective jobs and personal life. The two continue to battle over the "Bruno" title, but only Cohen can be the judge of who was his true inspiration.
