During webisode three of TheCelebrityCafe.com’s exclusive series, Crash Course to Stardom, Bascom Hill’s perceived lack of sufficient preparation influenced acclaimed music producer, Matt Wallace, to respectfully decline involvement with the band for their current project. By underestimating the importance of completing tracks on time for scheduled studio sessions, the Midwestern musicians missed out on a golden opportunity to work with a producer as highly respected within the industry as Wallace.

At the beginning of webisode four, two music industry experts consult with Rick and stress the importance of meeting deadlines and taking care of business in the music capital of the West Coast. They told him that the band’s inability to arrive to a scheduled meeting fully prepared was a serious problem, and it was Rick’s responsibility to put pressure on Bascom Hill to deliver.

In response to the criticism that had been dished out, Rick sensed urgency and told the music industry experts, “I obviously understand what the situation is. If they don’t, they will. Simple as that.” Meanwhile, the band scrambled to track down quality producers/songwriters to work with, and they struck gold by finding Mitch Allan and Aaron Kamin.

Allan has worked with such distinguished acts as country singer Faith Hill, recently married actress-singer Hilary Duff, and rock band Daughtry, which is fronted by American Idol season five contestant Chris Daughtry. Kamin is the founding member of California rock band The Calling. Their most well known song, “Wherever You Will Go,” topped Billboard’s Adult Top 40 for 23 weeks.

Although Bascom Hill had never previously worked with an outside songwriter, they were open-minded enough to embrace the collaboration. In one of the most subtly humorous moments of the series thus far, the narrator stated that supplies were being brought into the studio as the band’s bass guitarist, Quin, carried a case of Guinness up a flight of stairs.

The band worked well into the night with Allan and Kamin in an attempt to create a new track that will hopefully impress Matt Wallace and encourage him to give Bascom Hill another chance. Be sure to tune in next week for the fifth episode of TheCelebrityCafe.com’s exclusive series, Crash Course to Stardom.
