Record producer receives pardon

Dallas Austin given pardoned after carrying cocaine into Dubai

Dubai ruler pardoned R & B producer Dallas Austin hours after he was sentenced to four years in prison on possession of cocaine.

Dubai media outlets were reporting Austin was on his way to Naomi Campbell's birthday party when he was arrested at Dubai's airport with 1.26 grams of Cocaine.

Dubai ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued the pardon but the producer has not been released from jail, Austin's lawyers told the Associated Press. The lawyers said they expect Austin to be released from jail in a couple of days.

Pardons such as this are common and most times the offender is deported, which is expected to be the case with Austin.
