Red Ravings

Celebs donned red to raise awareness of women's heart risks.

Heart disease, according to Forbes, is the number one cause of death for American women. Friday, celebrities gathered in the center of New York City's fashion district to raise awareness of women's heart disease.

First Lady Laura Bush led the event, which featured stars donning red dresses, strutting down the runway in Bryant Park, according to Forbes. Bush, as the campaign's national ambassador, said, "Nothing draws attention like a little red dress."

Drawing the attention of the crowds, according to the Star-Ledger, were Ana Ortiz in Badgley Mischka, Heidi Klum wearing Marc Jacobs, and Sara Ramirez donning Angel Sanchez.

Liza Minnelli closed the show by belting out "New York, New York" at the end of the catwalk, reported the Ledger.

The collection of celebs in the red dresses kick-started the New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the Staten Island Advance reported.
