Regis Philbin Returns to "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

Legendary game show returns for a final run.

With "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" often in syndication and with Regis Philbin long gone from hosting the show, fans of the game will be pleased to know that Philbin will be returning to his duties for a finale of the series.

The Buffalo News states that the rehashed version of "Millionaire" will premiere again for 11 nights, to commemorate the show's tenth anniversary.

Philbin has stated that he knew the show would be a success as soon as it was adopted from British television. He once stated, "I was knocked out by the payoff of $1 million; that was unheard of." Executive producer of the show, Michael Davies, has said in an interview that the reason for the show's popularity is, "It's the accessibility, the questions that aren't knowable . . . from music to lighting to set to the game—was perfect. It was an instant classic."

In total, there have been 1,285 episodes of the show to date.
