R.E.M, Van Halen Head List of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees
Inductees to be chosen at March 12 ceremony.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is set for a new set of inductees; it just can't figure out if it wants to "Jump" or "Stand" with this year's nominees.
Van Halen, R.E.M., Chic and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five headline this year's list of nominees.
The nominees will be narrowed down to five different inductees at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's annual New York ceremony on March 12. A panel of 500 experts will choose who deserves to be enshrined in the Cleveland Hall of Fame.
Not all the nominees this year are musical acts. Patti Smith, who presided over the last days of the popular New York nightclub CBGB, is also up for enshrinement.
