Report: Jim Carrey’s daughter may have been fast-tracked to ‘American Idol’ audition

Actor Jim Carrey’s 24-year-old daughter Jane Carrey appeared on American Idol Sunday. It was a feel-good story, especially since she sang Bonnie Raitt’s “Something To Talk About” so well that she was given a pass to the next round of auditions in Hollywood. However, there is a report that she may have been given preferential treatment that helped her land the audition without waiting like an average person.

A source told Radar Online that Carrey did not have to wait in line for days in order to land her audition in San Diego. The source adds that it is doubtful that judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson knew about the special treatment, but it seemed like Carrey had an appointment.

“Her audition was pre-arranged with the producers. She did not wait and line up for hours or days outside – she had a time, she showed up and went in,” the source told the site.

Ironically, during the broadcast, her audition ran with a tape of her explaining that it was difficult to grow up with a famous father, notes Fox News.

"The last name definitely helps and hurts. There's this pressure to be better because if I make it somewhere, I run the risk of people saying 'you only got there because of your name,’” she said in the video, according to Us Weekly. After her performance, the three judges unanimously voted ‘yes’ to send her to next week’s Hollywood auditions.

Carrey’s father told Idol host Ryan Seacrest that he was proud of his daughter. The Mr. Popper’s Penguins actor called her “amazing,” adding “I can't wait for the world to understand what she has inside of her. This is going to be a fantastic year."
