Return of Project Runway
To the excitement of many fans, Entertainment Weekly has announced that the show, Project Runway, is returning to television.
After almost a year of lawsuits, the show, which has moved from Bravo to Lifetime, will officially be airing its sixth season this summer.
Originally, the season was going to begin this past November. But when the Weinstein Company, which produces the show, announced that they had signed a five-year deal for the show to be on Lifetime, NBC/Universal filed a lawsuit to block the show's move, saying that the Weinstein Co. violated the contract that they had.
According to the Associated Press, in Sept. 2008, a New York Supreme Court justice issued a temporary injunction, preventing Weinstein from taking Project Runway to Lifetime, and agreed that evidence showed that the company violated NBC's "right of first refusal" for the show. This caused the show to take an indefinite hiatus.
Today, the networks released a joint statement saying, "The Weinstein Company will pay NBCU for the right to move Project Runway to Lifetime. All parties are pleased with the outcome," reports People.com.
