The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN) is the largest anti-sexual assault organization in the country and it has received plenty of praise for its efforts over the years. For example, it has been named one of America’s 100 best charities by Worth magazine. Their latest campaign to ensure that survivors of various forms of child sexual abuse are able to get the help they deserve is celebrity-driven in order to raise awareness among the general public.
RAINN’s national spokeswoman is actress Christina Ricci and she is teaming up with other prominent Hollywood figures such as actors Kevin Bacon and Dylan McDermott as well as actress Gabrielle Union for RAINN’s campaign. The campaign, which features music from singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne, was formed in partnership with Academy Award nominated filmmaker Amy Berg whose documentary entitled “Deliver Us From Evil” revolved around child sexual abuse.
The underlying message behind RAINN’s campaign is to encourage child sexual abuse victims that it is never too late to reach out for help through National Sexual Assault Hotlines and other support systems. Arguably the most staggering statistics behind sexual assault are that an American is a victim of it every two minutes on average and over 20 million survivors of sexual assault currently reside in the United States.
Here are two videos featuring Bacon, McDermmott, Ricci and Union, who are attempting to assist RAINN in their campaign to promote awareness and encourage victims to seek help.
